Worldwide, covid-19 had affected healthcare delivery for osteoporosis, reveals a global survey of healthcare providers by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) and the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO).
Osteoporosis is a chronic, age-related disease which is associated with life-changing fragility fractures. Approximately 740,000 people lose their lives following hip fractures every year.
The survey report is based on online questionnaires completed from April to June 2020 by 209 healthcare providers in 53 countries: 28% from Europe, 24% from North America, and 19%, 17% and 12% from the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Latin America, respectively. Unichem Labs gets USFDA nod to market capsules to treat osteoarthritis

Drug firmUnichem Laboratories on Wednesday said it has received approval from the US health regulator to market its generic Celecoxib capsules used for treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and acute pain.
The company has received abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) approval for its Celecoxib capsules in the strengths of 50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg, and 400 mg from the United StatesFood and Drug Administration (USFDA),Unichem said in a filing to BSE.
The capsules are generic versions of GD Searle LLC s Celebrexcapsules in the same strengths, it added.
The product will be commercialized from the company s Goa plant, the filing said.
Celecoxib capsules are indicated for treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea, it added. ....
